Black Cherry Chip Ice Cream

Fresh cherries, shaved chocolate and a creamy vanilla ice cream base. Our black cherry chip ice cream is a family favorite. Perfect for summer!

Ingredients

  • 2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 drops red food coloring optional
  • 2 cups fresh cherries pitted
  • 2 Hershey bars (or 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips)

Instructions

  • Combine heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, and food coloring in a bowl. Stir.
  • Optional: Mash cherries until only a few chunks remain. This makes for a more smooth ice cream instead of having chunks from frozen cherries. Add cherries to mixture.
  • Pour mixture into ice cream machine and process according to manufacturer's instructions.
    While ice cream is processing, grate 2 chocolate bars. Pour into machine the last 10 minutes to allow chocolate to mix into ice cream.
  • Remove from ice cream maker and eat right away for soft serve, or transfer to a dish and freeze 3 hours for scoopable ice cream.
