How To Tie Dye Scrunchies and Socks

When we think of tie dye we usually think of shirts. What about accessories like scrunchies and socks! Here is our guide on how to tie dye scrunchies and socks. It's so fun and easy to do!

Equipment

  • bucket of water
  • plastic table cloth

Materials

Instructions

  • Soak scrunchies and socks in a bowl or bucket of water. Just until wet, then ring out.
  • Cover work surface with a disposible table cloth. Place a piece of plastic wrap under each item to be dyed. Roll up the socks in different shapes and secure with rubber bands.

  • Pour dye over each item in any pattern you'd like.

  • Roll up items in plastic wrap. Let soak 4 hours for pastel colors and 8-24 hours for bold colors.

  • Rinse finished items with COLD water until the water runs off clear without any dye.

  • Wash everything together in the washing machine. A normal or quick cycle with warm water and a small amount of detergent works great. Dry in the dryer.

Tips:
  • Always cover your work surface.
  • Wear gloves.
  • Wrap finished projects in a plastic wrap and place in a bag.
  • Let dye sit in items 4-24 hours.
  • Rinse thoroughly before washing.
