French Toast With Caramel Syrup

Our French toast with caramel syrup is a weekend delicacy. Thich Texas cut toast is dipped in a cinnamon and vanilla egg batter then cooked over a hot griddle until golden and drizzled in homemade caramel syrup. Perfection!

Ingredients

Caramel Syrup

  • 1/2 cup butter 1 stick
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

French Toast

  • 6 slices Texas toast
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. flour

Instructions

Caramel Syrup

  • Combine butter, sugar and heavy whipping cream in a large pot. Heat on med-high, stirring frequently. Bring a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in vanilla and baking soda. Pour into a jar.

French Toast

  • Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, flour and cinnamon together.
  • Dip slices of bread (both sides) in batter.
  • Butter a hot griddle or pan and cook French toast until golden on both sides.
  • Drizzle in caramel syrup.

Notes

This recipe make 2 1/2 cups of caramel syrup (cooked 5 minutes) or 2 cups of thicker caramel syrup (cooked 7 minutes). Calories are based off of 1 slice of toast with 2-3 tablespoons of syrup.
