Portable Homework Station
Create a portable homework station even if you don’t have a designated office space in your home! A picnic caddy—turned homework caddy—is the perfect way to hold homework supplies and can be stored in a cupboard between uses. A lap top is a great alternative to a desktop and can also be stored away when not in use!

Portable Homework Station
Welcome to our office! It’s actually a small buffet table in our kitchen that we use for all sorts of things, but when school ends for the day, it is where the kids do homework. With 4 kids in school this year, and 3 with homework every night, space was starting to become an issue. Our kitchen table is usually filled with papers, pencils, snacks and books. Our oldest is in middle school, has the most homework, and was needing a dedicated space. I cleared off this buffet table in the kitchen, that usually just has flowers or decor on it, and is the perfect spot for his new lap top.

This guy LOVES to fish. He’ll jump on his bike and head to the river with his best friend whenever they get a chance and had a great time fishing with his grandpa and uncles this year at our family reunion. He caught the biggest fish of the week! When choosing a lap top to free up the traffic jam that happens during homework time, it was a no brainer. He was instantly drawn to the HP Camo Special Edition Notebook in the  Realtree Xtra® camo pattern.

We have a rule that all computers stay downstairs in the common living areas when the kids are using them. That way there is no privacy, and we can easily monitor everything happening on them. His HP Notebook is a great computer and we found it to be extremely affordable as well. It folds up and stores away when not in use, and is great for families like us who don’t have a lot of space.

Last year we purchased the boys an inexpensive laptop (from a different company) to share and were really disappointed in the over all storage and abilities. We ended up returning it until we could find something that would fit their needs, and fit our budget. This one definitely fits the bill! With the Realtree Xtra® Camouflage pattern, this laptop was made with Dallin in mind! It also is equipped with the latest Intel processor and plenty of storage, and the crisp HD screen allows you to enjoy your photos and web pages in detail.

Homework Caddy Tutorial

Portable Homework Station
I created a portable homework caddy to complete our little office space. I found this caddy at Walmart and it is actually marketed as a picnic caddy. I liked how it was already sectioned off and knew it would be great for storing pencils and other homework supplies.

The best part of this “Back to School” time of year is the amazing sales on school supplies! I love stocking up on fresh boxes of pencils and crayons. I loaded my cart and had a lot of fun putting this together.

Portable Homework Station
I picked up an assortment of markers, colored pencils, pencils, glue sticks, school glue, highlighters, erasers, watercolors, and note paper.

When the caddy isn’t being used, it fits nicely inside the kitchen cupboard. Out of sight, out of mind!

Portable Homework Station
Great for moms like me who don’t like clutter out in the open, but don’t mind it behind closed doors 😉

Portable Homework Station
I found the entire line of NEW HP laptops at Walmart.

Are you an HP family? If you like your HP computer like I do, be sure to visit Walmart to share your thoughts! Encourage other parents to shop smart this back to school season with your online review.

I subscribe to your blog via The Old Reader. Today I decided to click through on this post, even though I really have no reason for a portable homework station – my kids are grown and my grandson is only 3 yrs old. But – I’m so glad I did. The photo of your son proudly holding up that fish is awesome! It made my day! What a wonderful memory through this photograph! 🙂
