This roast is so flavorful and EASY to make. I found the recipe years ago in my grandma's recipe box and made a copy for myself. Her recipe was titled "Swiss Steak", but isn't like any Swiss steak recipe that I've seen before (doesn't have tomatoes, etc.). I like it BETTER. Our favorite way to enjoy it is over rice or mashed potatoes. You could also serve it with egg noodles.

    Slow Cooker Pot Roast Ingredients

    • 2-3 lb. roast (chuck, round, etc.)*
    • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
    • 1 envelope onion soup mix
    • ½ cup water

*It really doesn't matter what kind of roast that you use. An inexpensive cut works just fine because it's cooking low and slow and will be juicy no matter what.

Wow! This is the easiest and so DELICIOUS steak dinner to make for my family. The leftover gravy on a rice or a baked potato is AMAZING!

It won't create a gravy-like sauce without the cream of mushroom soup, but you might be able to add a small amount of slurry mixture (cornstarch and water) to slightly thicken the juices!
