Nightgown Sewing Patterns for Girls
Ruffle Nightgown Pattern
What happened to the ones we had as little girls? Although, looking back, I think mine may have been made by my Grandma. Maybe that’s why they didn’t have Rainbow Bright or Carebears on them…although I’m sure I would have loved them just the same.

Welcome! I'm Brandy, mother to 5 darling kiddos and a cute black lab named Toby. My husband is in the Coast Guard so we've lived all over the place, turning each house into a home. I love baking, sewing, making cute things with my kids, and sharing what I've learned with all of you!

Your jammie dresses turned out so sweet Brandy! My girls love nightgowns too! We love the Disney store ones but my oldest I think is a little embarrassed by them and has wanted me to take the picture of the princess off them. These would be a fabulous alternative!
Brandy says
Thank you Lisa! I’m sure your little girl would love one and with your amazing sewing skills you could probably make her one without a pattern! 🙂
Haunani says
Oh how sweet are those little nightgowns. Sewing is such an amazing talent to have. Your little girls are so lucky to have a mama who can make such beautiful things for them. 🙂
Brandy says
Thank you so much Haunani! It has been a blessing to be able to sew and teach others as well. Hopefully they will continue to enjoy helping me and working on projects together!
Agy Lee says
Oh these are so sweet – your little ones will treasure them. Reminds me of the time when my mom made me my nightgowns. Definitely better than store bought ones.

These little nighties are adorable!! I love wearing nighties like this when I was a kid! I can understand why your girls wanted to wear them all day and night. lol

These are so beautiful! I was so happy to find this blog post, because I was wondering the same thing: “what happened to the simple nightgowns from my past?” And I realized I’d rather make them myself. Thank you so much for writing about this. I will be using it as a reference. The pictures you took are adorable too. May God bless your family and give them His infinite peace.
Brandy says
Thank you Amy! I’m glad you found it helpful and yes, we need to bring pretty nightgowns back!

Barbara jobson says

Brandy says
Hi Barbara! The pattern that I used for that one is Butterick. #6659 and, unfortunately, I believe it is out of print. I’m sorry!
Ana says
Do you know of any pattern similar to Butterick pattern 6659?
Lanita Martin says
Hi ! I ordered a night gown pattern from you! I was charged for it and never recieved it in the mail..? Would like to figure out what happened..?
Brandy says
Hi Lanita! I don’t sell patterns. Did you click on a link from my site and order it from someone else? If it’s the Whimsy Couture one you’ll need to contact them on Etsy. Hope that helps!!

Hi Brandi, I would imagine that we share the same decade ’81 here. Anyway, I have an 18m old daughter and I noticed the same thing you did…where’s all of the simple nightgowns girls wore when I was young. My wife bought one but it’s not cotton; it’s some kind of stretchy material. I found yours in a search but it wasn’t until I did a Google picture search that I found your page here and to see that it’s out of print 😕
Brandy says
Hi Austin! Yes, ’82 here! I’m sorry that the nightgown pattern that I used is now out of print. It’s such a shame because it’s such a cute one. They really need to bring this style back!
