I learned this tip when my boys were toddlers and couldn’t believe how well it worked! We made Valentine cookies and dipped them in store bought chocolate frosting. It was so easy to do and coated each cookie evenly! So much better than spreading with a butter knife.
(It’s hard to believe this little guy is in high school now!)
I love decorating sugar cookies with frosting tips, and have a couple of fun tutorials on how to do that with kids for Christmas or Valentine’s Day, but this sugar cookie frosting hack can’t be beat when making sugar cookies with toddlers and little kids! Heck, I like it for myself too.

Notes
Um, did you know that you can make your own sprinkles? I saw this and my mind was blown. I have an entire cupboard of sprinkles to use up before I go and try making my own, but it looks fun!
Welcome! I'm Brandy, mother to 5 darling kiddos and a cute black lab named Toby. My husband is in the Coast Guard so we've lived all over the place, turning each house into a home. I love baking, sewing, making cute things with my kids, and sharing what I've learned with all of you!

Love it, we’ll definitely try it! Wish you could add a “Pin It” button so I can easily pin when on my tablet.

Hey! I’ve been trying for quite some time to do that, but with no success so far. I don’t have a basic blogger template so the tutorials I’ve seen don’t work. But I’ll keep trying! 🙂

Wow! This is wonderful and yes, it sounds quick. I’m always delighted by how frosting softens up with a quick nuke in the microwave, but I never thought of dipping the cookies straight into the frosting. Thanks for sharing!

My husband was a Coastie also! For 4 1/2 years until his injuries led him to be medically discharged. He was an ME & served mostly at Port Canaveral.
Thank you for the icing tutorial! My girls are going to use this for a bake sale.

Hi Melissa! I’m sorry that he was injured, but thank him for his service! It’s a small world in the Coast Guard, so fun to hear from other families!

Can these cookies be stacked after icing or will the icing not harden?
Brandy says
Hi Diane! It will set up enough to stack probably 2 cookies-tall.
