This Veteran’s Day, take a moment to treat a local military family and veteran to a gift basket full of CHIPS AHOY! chocolate chip cookies, milk, napkins, and cups! “Cookies make the world a better place, and so do you. Thank you for your service!” A sweet way to show appreciation. This post has been sponsored by CHIPS AHOY! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It’s hard to believe that 22 years have passed since my husband showed up at boot camp, a shy 17-year-old teen who has grown through education, training, and experience into a Warrant Officer in the United States Coast Guard. It’s been an amazing ride, one that I am glad to tag along on as we’ve moved around the country with our young family.
One experience that we haven’t been through is a long deployment. The longest we’ve ever been apart is a couple of months. This has truly been a blessing for our family, and we are truly grateful to our friends and family who make that sacrifice for our country. We live near Norfolk, Virginia, the second most populated military area in the country. We have a huge Navy presence as well as Coast Guard, Air Force, and Army.
Being surrounded by so many other military families has been a neat experience, and especially insightful for our kids to see just how many kids are going through the same challenges and experiences that they are. They aren’t the only ones moving to new schools every few years, and it helps bring perspective. They can do hard things.
Last year, we had 4 friends leave for deployment around the same time. We watched as their families counted down the days until their return and celebrated birthdays and holidays without them, all while hoping and praying for a safe return. It was our honor to help out with driving kids to church activities, making small repairs around their homes, and checking in on them during this time.
Milk and Cookies Military Appreciation Gift
With Veteran’s Day just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to put together a little gift basket to show appreciation to a military family. If you’ve been around for a minute, you’ll know just how much I love giving little gifts like this. I created a printable card and headed to Dollar General to find a package of cookies to coordinate.
The camo colored CHIPS AHOY! packaging at Dollar General is perfect for a military appreciation gift. CHIPS AHOY! and Dollar General have partnered with the USO by donating $50,000 to the military service nonprofit’s important mission to support service members and military families. Keep an eye out for the limited edition camo-colored CHIPS AHOY! packaging to use in your milk and cookies gift basket.
I created a printable card that you can download to add to your cookies and milk gift basket. Just print, cut, and tuck inside before delivering the basket to a veteran and their family.
You can even attach it directly to the package of CHIPS AHOY! cookies for an even more simple gift idea.I tucked two packages of cookies in my container, added a stack of disposable cups (because who likes dishes?), red and white polka dot napkins, and a carton of milk.
And because I’m slightly “extra” with it comes to things like this, I dusted off my vinyl cutter and created a little label. Seriously, this is totally optional but pretty simple if you have access to a cutter.
Can you think of a military family in your neighborhood who would enjoy sharing this milk and cookies gift basket with each other?

Welcome! I'm Brandy, mother to 5 darling kiddos and a cute black lab named Toby. My husband is in the Coast Guard so we've lived all over the place, turning each house into a home. I love baking, sewing, making cute things with my kids, and sharing what I've learned with all of you!

This is sweet! It is also adaptable to our police force as they could definitely use some appreciation these days!
