Make donut shop donuts in your home in under 20 minutes! Biscuit dough donuts are easy to make and so yummy dipped in chocolate, maple or vanilla icing! Deep fried and air fryer versions.
Today is National Donut Day! My daughter’s favorite day of the year, ha! She’s obsessed with all things DONUTS. Donut key chains, donut lettings, donut fleece blanket, and eating donuts. Can you blame her? I’m a donut lover as well. Not enough to stand in line for a free donut today at Krispy Kreme though. Our location is busy enough when they aren’t handing out free donuts so I treated the family to a batch of homemade donuts…biscuit dough donuts!
These biscuit dough donuts are SO EASY to make. I have a wonderful recipe for yeast donuts, and these are just as good, and so much faster. You don’t need to make the dough, let it rise, or even shape the donuts. If you are nervous about deep frying them, don’t be! I’ll share some tips at the end, but it really isn’t intimidating, I promise.
The secret is using refrigerated biscuit dough, and it isn’t really a secret because folks have been making donuts like this for decades! I took them up a notch with 3 homemade glazes: chocolate, maple and vanilla.
Each batch makes 8 donuts. I used 3 cans of biscuits to make 24 donuts, 8 of each flavor.

We made these today and they were a huge hit! I NEVER fry because it always feels like a big process but this wasn’t bad at all. I think next time we’ll try milk chocolate chips in the chocolate glaze but my kids thought they were perfect as is.

Yay! So glad to hear this!
