What Are Peanut Butter Meltaways?

These peanut butter meltaway candies are a classic treat and only require 3 ingredients! Chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and creamy peanut butter. The beauty of these candies is that you can customize them a dozen different ways by switching up the variety of chocolate chips that you use!

I made them for the first time this holiday season, after seeing them here. My family loved them so much that we came up with our own variation as well as a crunch bar version. There are varying recipes out there and the amount of peanut butter added fluctuates. The recipe that I linked used equal parts chocolate and white chocolate. For me, that was too sweet so I use less white chocolate.

Make a half batch, regular batch, or double batch depending on how many you need. The measurements that I am sharing today will make 30 mini cups.

You can make peanut butter meltaways in candy or mini cupcake liners or you can mold them in silicone candy molds! How cute are the ones we made above in snowman, Santa, and snowflake shapes?! My girls and niece made those ones. We also made peppermint bark in the cute holiday molds! If making peanut butter meltaways in molds make sure to remove them from the molds right after they come out of the refrigerator or freezer. Don’t let them come to room temp or they might crack when pushing them out of the molds.

1 1/2 cups chocolate chips: milk chocolate, semisweet, or dark chocolate chips.

1/2 cup white chocolate chips: you can skip this and add an additional 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, but it gives the candies a sweet flavor. Alternatively, you can substitute butterscotch or peanut butter chips for the white chocolate chips if you’d like.

1/3 cup creamy peanut butter: for an added crunch try using crunchy peanut butter

The meltaways will harden and the liners will peel off easily when ready to eat. Because they have peanut butter in them, the warmth of your fingers will cause them to soften the more you handle them. They are best stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
