If you like cinnamon you’ll love these cinnamon red hots sugar cookies! Soft, buttery cookies slathered in red hots candy frosting! Easy to make and so delicious. Perfect for any holiday cookie platter.
Our sugar cookie recipe is one of the most popular recipes on Gluesticks. Try our lemon sugar cookie or bakery-style sugar cookie variations!

Watch our step by step video!

I love the flavor of cinnamon. Every year when we make gingerbread cookies I make sure to grab a bag of red hots cinnamon candies. You simply can’t make gingerbread cookies without adding a bit of icing and a few cinnamon red hots on top! The rest are saved for making red hots frosting. So delicious!

Cinnamon Red Hots Sugar Cookies

This recipe is for all red hots candy lovers. Red hots cinnamon frosting is absolutely delicious and perfect to slather over buttery sugar cookies. And if you’re not in the mood to roll out and cut sugar cookies into shapes you’ll love our method (copycat Swig cookies method) for shaping the sugar cookie dough.

These cookies will puff when baked, so make sure to really press down. I like pressing down until the edges come up over the side of the jar. See the video for a great visual.

These sugar cookies bake up in just 10 minutes. Let them rest on the baking sheet for 3-5 minutes then transfer to a cooling rack.

I don’t understand what the lemons are for with the Red Hot Sugar Cookies. It said that we would need them but not what we were supposed to be to do with them. Thanks so much. I can’t wait to try this recipe.

I cloned my lemon sugar cookie recipe and changed a few things to create this one. Must have missed that sentence. Thanks! No lemons necessary for these cookies!

could you melt the red hots for a smoother texture rather than crush them up?
