Grandma’s Frozen Fruit Punch (Video)

Grandma’s frozen fruit punch with orange, banana, and pineapple is a family favorite and has been served at many weddings over the years. Make it ahead of time and keep in the freezer, then thaw and add lemon-lime soda. This post was originally shared in 2013 and now includes a video.

I only requested one thing to be served at our wedding reception. Everything else just a bonus. That one thing was my Grandma Eva’s frozen fruit punch. She made it for Christmas dinners, Thanksgiving, my aunt’s weddings, and usually had a mason jar or two of it in her freezer for special occasions. I love that it uses fresh bananas. Many punch recipes only include fruit juice, but the blended bananas add a creaminess to the punch that sets it apart. Now I make it for my own family. It’s so delicious and
refreshing!

Frozen Fruit Punch Ingredients

  • Bananas
  • Orange Juice
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Lemon-lime soda
The recipe is basically equal parts of all juices and then mix with 7-up, but for a reference, I shared the measurements that I used the last time that I made it.

Freezing the Punch

Make the punch the night before you plan on serving it so that it has time to freeze. My grandma always used mason jars so I use those too. Then let it thaw on the counter until it is slushy and break it up with a spoon. Serve with equal parts lemon lime soda for the most refreshing fruit punch EVER.

You can make it without freezing it (just blend everything and add soda), but it really is better when it is slightly slushy. The bonus of serving it slushy is that you don’t need ice to keep it nice and cold!

Notes

How many people will this frozen fruit punch serve?

Because you are using equal parts of juice and soda, you can customize this recipe to suit your needs. 1 serving = 1 cup, so you can get at least 12 servings from the measurements above.

Can you use juice concentrate?

You can use frozen concentrated juices, even blended ones (orange and pineapple). I like using orange juice (concentrate or fresh from the refrigerator section) and canned 100% pineapple juice, found in the juice aisle at the grocery store.

Can you use something other than lemon lime soda in this recipe?

Ginger ale would be fantastic as well as grapefruit sodas.
