We all know that the holiday season isn't known to be the most relaxing time of the year, however it is still my FAVORITE time of year. The sights, the sounds, the scents, and the flavors. I was just telling my children that I wish this time of year lasted for several months instead of several weeks.

We love hosting family from out of town and also holiday dinners with friends. It is a lot of work to get the house ready, to create the menu plan, and remember all of the extra details to create a lovely event. It is even more work to clean up afterwards when all you want to do is kick up your feet and relax.

I've created this holiday gift basket with my favorite things from this time of year. The perfect thank you gift for your holiday hostess this year!

Evergreen trees are so pretty. I found this mini live pine tree in a darling snowflake planter. Perfect for a window sill or side table.

I also included a ceramic mug with a few packets of salted caramel hot cocoa mix. Just right to sip while reading a book at the end of the day.

It isn't the holiday season without treats. Soft peppermint mints and Danish butter cookies in cellophane bags added color and sweetness to my basket.

I also tucked in a couple of holiday tea towels.

    And last, but not least...

A Glade® jar candle. FACT: you can't relax and feel completely cozy without a candle burning in your home.  What? I made that up? Maybe, but I still believe it to be true. I burn candles almost daily September-January.

The Tree Lighting Wonder™ jar candle from the makers of Glade® smells heavenly.  With hints of fir needle, spruce and eucalyptus it is the perfect combination for winter.  I found it at my local Kroger on a beautiful holiday display with other holiday scents and products.

An evergreen tree, hot chocolate, peppermint, cookies, pretty linens, and a heavenly candle. Placed in a gold basket and wrapped with a gingham ribbon. My holiday hostess basket is complete!

What scents remind you of the holiday season?
