The chocolate cake sets up around the edges and has pockets of gooey chocolate pudding throughout the center.
Our favorite way to eat it is with ice cream, but Cool Whip would be delicious too.
Chocolate Lava Cake In a Slow Cooker
Ingredients:
- 1 box Betty Crocker Super Moist Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 1 /4 cup water
- 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips
Directions
Step 1: Spray your 5-6 qt. slow cooker with non stick cooking spray then crank the heat to HIGH while you prepare the cake batter. Cover with lid. This is important! You are giving your cake a head start in the cooking process. Allow slow cooker to preheat for 15 minutes.
Step 2: In a large bowl mix cake mix, eggs, water and oil with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour batter into slow cooker. Cover with lid. Allow cake to start to heat while you prepare pudding.
Step 3: Mix pudding mix and milk in a medium bowl and beat until smooth. Pour mixture over cake mix (all around, not just in the center). Do not stir.
Step 4: Sprinkle with 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips.
Step 5: Cover slow cooker with a layer of paper towels. This will help prevent condensation from dripping onto your cake during the cooking process.
Step 6: Add lid. REDUCE HEAT TO LOW. Cook 2 1/2-3 hours.
This is what your cake should look like when you remove the lid after 2 1/2 hours. Set up around the edges with pockets of gooey pudding throughout the center.
If your edges aren’t set up you can cook the cake an additional 20-30 minutes on LOW.
Spoon onto plates and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipping cream.
