I love having little girls because I am still a little girl at heart. I have so much fun enabling my two little gals and their creativity! We decided it would be fun to create our own Pixie Hollow Fairy Garden! Spring is here in Northern California and so are all of the beautiful flowers that come with it.

Ruby and I went to the nursery and craft store to pick out supplies. We even chose two darling fairies (Tinker Bell and Fawn) to adorn the garden. If you are one of the few souls who isn't experiencing blizzard conditions right now this would be such a fun project to make with the kids during spring break. For those of you (and I used to live in Alaska so I can sympathize) who won't experience spring until May or June be sure to add this to your to-do list for the summer or fall!

How to Make a Pixie Hollow Fairy Garden

Faith, trust, and pixie dust are all you need to create a Pixie Hollow Fairy Garden. And maybe a pot, a few accessories and some flowers.

    Supplies Needed:

Pot (we used a 14" plastic terra cotta colored planter)

    Potting Soil

    Gardening Shovel

    Flowers

Ground Covering foliage (We used a 6 pk. of Alyssum and Baby's Tears)

    unfinished wooden birdhouses

    craft paint

    clear spray paint

    rocks

4.5" Tinker Bell Fairy Dolls (Walmart)

Accessories (mushrooms or little woodland creatures)

The girls started by painting their bird houses. I had to really refrain from helping too much. I like painting and would have been happy to paint both of their houses for them, but where would the fun have been in that? They did such a great job and I love the colors they chose.

Once the houses were try we applied 2 coats of clear spray paint to them. I also sprayed the bottom of the houses as well since they would be sitting in dirt.

The girls filled the pot with soil and we began figuring out the layout that we wanted. We decided to have our taller flowers in the back with some of the Baby's Tears. They nestled their little fairy houses in between the Baby's Tears and then we filled in the rest of the space with Alyssum and more Baby's Tears.

We left a small area to make a pathway so that Tinker Bell and Fawn could visit each other. Small stones worked great and they also added stones to any bare areas that we had.

We gave our new garden a good watering and then added a small sprinkling of fairy dust (glitter) to bring it to life!

The girls decided that they wanted to leave the fairies in the garden at night so that they could play and fly around if they wanted to.

And since Fawn is friends with so many animals, we added a cute little pot hugging bunny.

I think Tinker Bell and Fawn like there new garden even if they are too big to fit into their homes 🙂

A beautiful little garden with just the right amount of magic. We love how it turned out and hope that it blooms all spring and summer.

It was the perfect project for this little group of flower planting, spring lovin', and fairy pretending group of girls!

Ohhhh you just got me so excited - I've always wanted to put together a fairy garden and I bought a few things on sale at Joann's a few months ago. Great job and what a fun activity to do with your girls. I have two boys, so we are going to make a "Fairy Hunting Camp" hehe. Thanks for sharing!

I used to live in Alaska too! I was raised in Juneau. It's still my favorite place on earth, but we live in Florida now. This is the cutest craft I've seen in a really long time! You did a great job. I would love to do something like this with my daughter. I know she would love it too! #client
