    Skillet Lasagna

Skillet lasagna is one of my favorite weeknight meals. Served with our quick garlic breadsticks and dinner is done in about an hour. Skillet lasagna can be made with broken lasagna noodles, but I usually make it with bow-tie pasta because it saves me a step (no need to break up the noodles).

    Shortcut Lasagna Ingredients

(scroll to the end of the post for a printable version)

    • 12 oz. bowtie pasta (or broken lasagna noodles)
    • 1 pound mild Italian sausage
    • 3 garlic cloves, minced
    • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
    • 36 ounces pasta sauce (1 ½ jars)
    • ½ cup sour cream
    • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
    • parmesan cheese, to taste

    fork of skillet lasagna

    1. Cook pasta according to instructions. Strain out water and set pasta aside.
    2. Brown sausage in a skillet with garlic. Drain fat, if necessary.
    3. Add pasta sauce and Italian seasonings. Heat through.
    4. Stir in sour cream and mozzarella cheese. Heat through.
    5. Stir in pasta then top with parmesan cheese, to taste.

    Skillet Lasagna Notes

    • If you prefer ground turkey or ground beef you can use that in place of the Italian sausage.
    • Greek yogurt can be used in place of sour cream to make the sauce creamy.
    • For more of a lasagna look to the dish you can sprinkle an additional ¼ cup of mozzarella cheese over the top and broil until melted and bubbly.
    • This recipe calls for 1 ½ jars of pasta sauce. You can freeze the remaining pasta sauce to use next time or to use as pizza sauce.
