Meltaway crunch bars are better than any store-bought candy bar! Crispy, chocolatey, and melts in your mouth.

The BEST homemade crunch bars recipe. These have peanut butter in them, so they aren't an identical copycat recipe, but if you like chocolate peanut butter meltaways, you'll LOVE this variation! If you want authentic Nestle bars, melt milk chocolate and stir in Rice Krispies. That would be delicious too, but I like the meltaway texture that the peanut butter adds. If you want these even crunchier, you can use crunchy peanut butter!
Why I Like This Recipe
- Melt-in-your-mouth texture. The peanut butter adds a smoothness to the crunch bars. They firm up, yet are silky soft when you bite into the crunch bars.
- Simple ingredients. You only need 4 ingredients to make homemade crunch bars, and you might already have everything you need in the pantry.
- Quick and easy. With this recipe, you'll have homemade crunch bars in about 30 minutes!
What Others Are Saying

Tips and Tricks
- Don't overheat the chocolate. Microwaves vary, but heating the chocolate chips for 30 seconds, stirring, then heating for an additional 15-20 seconds works great.
- Store in the refrigerator. If your kitchen isn’t too warm, you can store these in a container at room temperature, but I prefer keeping them in the refrigerator.
Ingredients

I'll share the ingredients that I used, but you can mix and match chocolates to create any variation you'd like! Milk chocolate, semi-sweet, peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, dark chocolate, etc. Whatever combination you use, just make sure to use 2 cups.
- Chocolate chips: I used semisweet chocolate chips, but use whatever you'd like.
- White chocolate chips: This adds a creamy sweetness to the bars.
- Peanut butter: I used creamy because that's what I had on hand, but crunchy would be fantastic.
- Rice Krispies cereal

How To Make Meltaway Crunch Bars

Step 1: Line a small baking sheet or 9x13" baking pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
Step 2: Add chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and peanut butter to a microwave-safe bowl.
Step 3: Heat for 30-second increments, stir, then heat for an additional 15-2o seconds, until melted and smooth. Stir in cereal.
Step 4: Spread mixture onto parchment paper. If using a baking sheet larger than 9x13, just spread the mixture out into a 9x13" rectangle, about ¼" thick. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, then cut into bars.

If your kitchen isn’t too warm, you can store these in a container at room temperature, but I prefer keeping them in the refrigerator.
Crunch Bar FAQs
Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave. I usually use my microwave and heat the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips for 30 seconds, then I stir and heat them for an additional 15-20 seconds. Every microwave is different, my advice is to go low and slow. Short intervals, stirring until smooth and creamy. DO NOT OVERHEAT CHOCOLATE.
If you want authentic Nestle bars, melt milk chocolate and stir in Rice Krispies. Omit the white chocolate chips and peanut butter that I use in my meltaway crunch bars recipe.
If your kitchen isn’t too warm, you can store these in a container at room temperature, but I prefer keeping them in the refrigerator. They will stay fresh for 2 weeks.

I would like to make these to ship to family for Christmas. 2-3 day shipping time. Would they be okay without refrigeration?
Brandy says
I think they’d do just fine if they will be traveling to a cool place. They can be stored at room temperature, they are just softer. Anything under 60 is ideal and would keep them a little firmer.

Hi everyone! Brandy here, I still can't believe how easy these bars were to make. I like them better than regular crunch bars, the peanut butter adds such a smooth texture. Enjoy!
