12 Days of Christmas Advent Gift For Christians! (QR Codes)

Modified: Jul 18, 2025 · Published: Aug 16, 2024 by Brandy · This post may contain affiliate links.

12 Days of Christmas gift! 12 pieces of candy, each labeled with a QR code to an inspirational Christmas video! This is a fun gift idea for teens, families, friends, and neighbors!

You might also like our printable Young Women Christmas sock wrappers, our Young Women General Conference handout, or our Back to School survival kit Young Women activity!

container of chocolates with QR codes attached to each piece of candy.

One of the challenges of giving gifts to teens is coming up with something practical, yet engaging. These 12 days of Christmas gifts won't end up on a shelf collecting dust, and won't end up in the trash (at least not right away). It includes 12 Christmas videos to brighten their day in the 12 days leading up to Christmas. It also includes CHOCOLATE.

All of the videos are New Testament-based, and the Studio C comedy videos are good, clean fun for the whole family!  If you printed out the QR codes last year and are looking for new codes to share with friends this year I've got you covered!

5 12 days of christmas labels

Every year I add a new set of labels and QR codes. Scroll to the end of the post to access all 5 sets! Click here to see the candies we used last year (cheaper than Ghirardelli).

Here is what people are saying!

I gave them to my single sister friends, youth in the ward, and a non-member friend. Our Bishop was so impressed with the videos and my nonmember friend took hers to work for her coworkers to scan also. Thanks for sharing the gospel with others through this 12 Days of Christmas activity. I can’t wait to do this again next year.

My daughter gave them as a gift to her high school besties, and they loved it!! We’re even planning to gift the teacher & school buses with them!! You never know the impact you can make with those inspired messages!

    12 Days of Christmas Videos

The QR codes link to a selection of YouTube videos from the Latter-day Saints Channel, The Piano Guys, The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, Studio C, the Strive to Be Channel and other uplifting accounts. The QR codes are on a printable sheet that can be downloaded in the supplies section and at the end of the post.

There are currently 5 sets available. Set 1 was the first set I made back in 2021, and I've added a new one every year. The newest set, set 5 (2025), was recently added to the collection.

cup of paper shred and chocolate squares

Each QR code is cut out and attached to the back of a piece of candy. You can use Ghirardelli chocolate squares, peppermint patties, or a variety of holiday candies depending on your budget. We've given the young women $5 fleece throws or cozy socks in the past, always keeping the budget between $3-$5 per girl. This gift fits right within that budget.

✂️ 12 Days of Christmas Supplies

    • 16 oz. containers with lids
    • Ghirardelli Chocolates (or any kind of candy)
    • Paper Shred (optional, and also sold at dollar stores)
    • Copy Paper
    • Scissors
    • glue dots, mounting squares, or double-sided tape
    • Printable QR Codes (Set 1),  (Set 2), (Set 3), (Set 4), or (Set 5)
    • Printable Lids (Set 1), (Set 2), (Set 3), (Set 4), or (Set 5)

How To Assemble 12 Days of Christmas Containers

I love these containers and use them for my simmer pot potpourri gifts and for packaging up homemade granola to give away. They are perfect for holding 12 pieces of candy. You can add a bit of paper shred to fill in any gaps, but it really isn't necessary.  The printable lids fit these containers EXACTLY. If you use different containers simply attach the label to the front or side, or tie the label on with string!

    • Printable QR Codes (Set 1),  (Set 2),  (Set 3), (Set 4), or (Set 5)

    Device-Free Option

For those who would prefer a device-free option, I've included 12 scripture references from the New Testament and Book of Mormon that can be used instead. I had a request from someone who said many of the youth in her church don't have cell phones, so scripture references would work perfectly. Another option would be to find 12 quotes about Christmas and print those, one for each day.

(These scriptures include verses from the Book of Mormon and the New Testament)

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can missionaries use these QR code gifts?

Missionaries have smartphones, but are not allowed access to most internet sites and do not have access to YouTube. They would not be able to use these codes. However, they can use the device-free option with scriptures instead of videos.

Can the 12 Days of Christmas labels be used on other containers?

Absolutely! While the labels fit perfectly on the containers that I used, you can glue or tape them to the front of plastic baggies or small gift boxes.

Do the QR codes ever expire?

I used static QR codes, which means that they will last forever. There is no expiration, so as long as the videos are still listed on Youtube, the codes will work! This means that you don't need to use the most current set. You can go back to the first set and use it if you'd like, or rotate through the years.

Can you tell me what font you used to make the round labels for the lids? Our Young Women group wants to create a little tag with each girl's name on it and some instructions for watching the videos each day. I just wanted to copy the font you used.

Thanks so much for putting this wonderful idea together!

I like the idea of having instructions. I made them for all the youth in our ward and gave the girls their instructions personally. Then as I am walking down the hall, I see all the YM throwing the codes away and munching down on the candy. So I asked a couple of the boys and they said they didn't know what they were for. I mean boys will be boys but I felt like all my hard work was going out the window and they won't even get the messages. I'm going to add instructions to the rest of the ones we need to deliver to kids that weren't at church today.

This is so amazing. Thank you so very much for sharing these. The YW from our ward still remember when we did it in 2021. I love that it gives them something quick and simple they can do daily to bring the Christmas spirit. I'm going to try to piece together a combination of 25 days and I was thinking of making advent cards with your QR codes, scriptures and add the light the world daily challenges. I'm so excited and so very grateful for all the work you put into compiling this.

Hi Maureen. I updated the labels this year so that either one can be used to give these to anyone. They no longer say "Latter-day Saint Youth" on the label. So either label can be used for everyone now. Friends, coworkers, etc.
