This bubble gum ice cream recipe is super simple! Whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, bubble gum flavoring, and gumballs! A sweet treat just like the one served at our favorite little ice cream shop in town.

My girls LOVE bubble gum ice cream. If an ice cream shop offers it, you can bet that is what both of them are going to ask for at our local ice cream shop.
This easy bubble gum ice cream recipe is a tribute to the blue bubble gum ice cream at Brock's in Yuba City. They serve the bubble gum ice cream with an extra cup to spit the bubble gum candy pieces into. The girls liked saving them for later. Gumball ice cream is fun to make and is always a hit with kids!
Why I like This Recipe
- No Churn. We used the same basic no-churn ice cream recipe that I use for my buckeye peanut butter ice cream and easy peppermint ice cream. It's a great base and easy to customize.
- Easy to customize. This time, we simply added bubble gum flavoring, a bit of blue food coloring, and about 6 oz. of gumball candies. The bubble gum flavoring is optional and if you'd like pink bubble gum ice cream, use a few drops of red food coloring instead.
- Fun for kids. Not only is this ice cream fun for kids to eat, it's easy for them to help make it, too. They'll have fun hiding the gumballs in the batter as you spoon it into the pan to freeze!
What Others Are Saying
Turned out perfectly! I made a double batch...it lasted just two days and I only got one bowl. My kids and wife got the rest-lol. Thanks for the recipe, this will be my "go-to" when it comes to making bubble gum ice cream.--- Sheldon

🍦Ice Cream With Bubble Gum Tips and Tricks
- Layer the gumballs. Because the gumballs are heavier than the cream mixture, I recommend layering them evenly to disperse the gum instead of stirring them into the ice cream mixture. Spoon half of the ice cream mixture into a loaf pan. Sprinkle with gumballs. Push gumballs into the mixture with a toothpick so that they are completely covered. Sprinkle more gumballs. Add the remaining ice cream mixture and sprinkle with more gumballs.
- Chill the equipment. This is optional, but I think it helps the mixture freeze quicker. Start with chilled ingredients and take the extra step to chill/freeze the beaters, bowl and freezer dish that you plan to freeze the ice cream in.
- Don't over whip the heavy whipping cream. We're making ice cream, not butter. Just beat until stiff peaks appear.
🥣 Ingredients

- Heavy whipping cream: Cream is the base of this recipe. As it's whipped, it fluffs up and gives the ice cream a smooth and creamy texture.
- Sweetened condensed milk: This ingredients lowers the freezing point, preventing the ice cream from forming ice crystals as it freezes.
- Food Coloring: Always optional, but it's fun to add a few drops*
- Bubble gum flavoring or vanilla extract: For a punch of bubble gum flavor, consider adding a small amount of flavoring. Vanilla extract is a wonderful substitute.
- Gumballs: These are just plain fun!
*We purchased the bubble gum flavoring online, but you can also find it at Michael's (be sure to use a 40% off coupon!).

Bubble Gum Ice Cream FAQs
The main bubble gum flavoring comes from a teaspoon of bubble gum flavoring. The gumballs add a fun texture, but can be left out if you'd like.
No, eggs are used when making a custard-based ice cream mixture. For no-churn varieties, it is not necessary to cook the base or add eggs.
Because it doesn't have the preservatives that store-bought ice creams do, this ice cream is best eaten within a week of being made.
No-churn ice cream should be stored in an airtight container in the freezer or in a container with a layer of plastic wrap DIRECTLY on top of the ice cream to create a barrier to air and ice crystals.

The condensed sweetened milk combined with the "Lorann" bubble gum flavoring give this ice cream a more authentic "bubble gum" flavored ice cream from an ice cream parlour (if you live in Canada,"Bulk Barn" sells it). I also added pure vanilla extract along with it.
I also used this recipe in an ice cream maker and let it churn for about 20 minutes then froze it overnight. Turned out perfectly! I made a double batch as my maker is just large enough to handle the quantity...it lasted just two days and I only got one bowl. My kids and wife got the rest-lol.
Thanks for the recipe, this will be my "go-to" when it comes to making bubble gum ice cream.

How many quarts does this make?

When should I add the flavoring?
Brandy says
Good catch! I fixed it. You add it when you add the food coloring.

Thank you for sharing your recipe! I can't wait to make this! Do you happen to remember the name of the ice cream shop in California that you went to? I grew up in California and my dad would take me to Swensen's ice cream and they had the best bubble gum ice cream!
