This bubble gum ice cream recipe is super simple! Whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, bubble gum flavoring (optional), and bubble gum pieces! A sweet treat just like the one served at our favorite little ice cream shop in town.Â

My girls LOVE bubble gum ice cream. If an ice cream shop offers it, you can bet that is what both of them are going to ask for. It isn’t very often that we find it at our local grocery store, but our favorite little ice cream shop in California carried it! It was the first ice cream shop that I had seen it in since I was a kid. This recipe is a tribute to the blue bubblegum ice cream at Brock’s in Yuba City. All of their ice creams were homemade and were so delicious and creamy! They served the bubble gum ice cream with an extra cup to spit the bubblegum candy pieces into. The girls liked saving them for later. While gumball ice cream isn’t my favorite, it certainly is fun to make!
We used the basic no churn ice cream recipe that is very popular right now (we used this one as our base) and simply added bubble gum flavoring*, a bit of blue food coloring (or a couple of drops of red food coloring for a pink bubblegum ice cream), and about 6 oz. of gumball candies. SUPER easy and has a perfectly smooth texture. No eggs, no heating, and no ice cream machine required.
*We purchased the bubble gum flavoring on Amazon for about $5, but you can also find it at Michael’s (be sure to use a 40% off coupon!). You can also just skip adding the flavoring completely and add vanilla. It’s up to you!Â

Thank you for sharing your recipe! I can’t wait to make this! Do you happen to remember the name of the ice cream shop in California that you went to? I grew up in California and my dad would take me to Swensen’s ice cream and they had the best bubble gum ice cream!
Brandy says
That’s awesome! The one that we went to was Brock’s in Yuba City, CA.

When should I add the flavoring?
Brandy says
Good catch! I fixed it. You add it when you add the food coloring.

How many quarts does this make?

The condensed sweetened milk combined with the “Lorann” bubble gum flavoring give this ice cream a more authentic “bubble gum” flavored ice cream from an ice cream parlour (if you live in Canada,”Bulk Barn” sells it). I also added pure vanilla extract along with it.
I also used this recipe in an ice cream maker and let it churn for about 20 minutes then froze it overnight. Turned out perfectly! I made a double batch as my maker is just large enough to handle the quantity…it lasted just two days and I only got one bowl. My kids and wife got the rest-lol.
Thanks for the recipe, this will be my “go-to” when it comes to making bubble gum ice cream.
