    Halloween Rice Krispies Treats

I'm such a sucker for fun holidays and seasonal treats. Give me a blank canvas like a Rice Krispies treat and I'll give it a huge dose of cuteness with a sprinkling of ridiculousness any day of the week!

Mummy, Frankenstein, and Halloween Rice Krispies

These Halloween Rice Krispies Treats are so EASY to make, especially with the individually packaged treats. These would be perfect to hand out at a Halloween party or activity this year and are a huge hit with kids. You could even set up a station for guests to pick out what they’d like to put in their treat bags!

packaged rice krispies treats and candy eyes

Grab some candy eyes and make a Frankenstein pop or a mummy pop. You can also dip a Rice Krispies treat in orange candy melts and sprinkle with Halloween sprinkles! My step-by-step directions below will show how to make a mummy pop, but the others are the same. Get creative and have fun!

    Step 1: Dip

    Step 2: Decorate

    Step 3: Let harden.

Mini Rice Krispies Vs. Regular Rice Krispies Pops

You can use homemade Rice Krispies treats, but for dipping, I think that the store-bought ones work better. I used both mini ones (square) and regular ones (rectangle) in this post and I like the look of both! If you use the mini ones you only need 1 (12 oz.) bag of melting chocolate or chocolate chips and it will yield 12 pops. If you use the regular-sized treats you'll need 24 oz. of melting chocolate (or 2 bags of chocolate chips) to make 12 pops.

    Ingredients:

    • 12 individually wrapped Rice Krispies Treats
    • 24 oz. white chocolate melting candies (or white chocolate chips)
    • 12 lollipop sticks (cake pop stick)
    • candy eyes
    • sandwich bag

Line a baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper. Slide a lollipop stick into the center of each Rice Krispies Treat.

Note: if using chocolate chips you can add a small amount (teaspoon) of coconut oil to the bowl before heating the chocolate. This ensures a smooth and dippable consistency.

    bowl of melted white chocolate
Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir. Heat for an additional 30 seconds and stir again. If needed heat for an additional 15 seconds.

DIY double boiler: place a large saucepan on the stove. Add 1-2 inches of water.  Heat until the water is simmering. Reduce to low heat. Place a glass or metal bowl over the pot. The bowl needs to be big enough to not sink into the water and make sure that there is space between the water and the bottom of the bowl. Add chocolate chips to the bowl and stir until melted with a smooth consistency.

Spoon chocolate over each treat, spreading and covering both the front and the back.

Repeat with remaining Rice Krispies Treats. Let sit for 5 minutes. Spoon the remaining white chocolate into a sandwich baggie and cut off a corner. Drizzle over each Rice Krispies Treat to give it the mummy "look".

    Frankenstein and Orange Variation

For Frankenstein pops replace white candy melts with green. Use chocolate candy melts or melted chocolate chips for details.

For Halloween pops, replace white candy melts with orange. Add Halloween sprinkles.
