Once upon a time I had 3 little ones ages 5 and under. It was such a fun time with lots of play dates and preschool parties. This rainbow fruit platter became a staple for St. Patrick's day preschool celebrations.

St. Patrick's Day Rainbow Fruit Platter

Aaron and I made this several years in a row and it was always a hit. Ten years have passed and our bonus baby is now in preschool. Mac and I had so much fun making a rainbow fruit platter together. He even had a little picture of a rainbow to look at, just to make sure we got all of the colors right.

We even added these cute animal fruit picks. They work great for picking up the little pieces of fruit. My kids love adding these to their lunches for picking up sliced fruit.

The ones with the longer picks are better for dipping fruit into whipped topping (they seem to grip the fruit better). You can serve this platter with our amazing yogurt fruit dip recipe, with whipped topping (shown above), or fill the ramekins with gold candy or marshmallows!
Best Fruits To Use For a Fruit Platter
- Red: strawberries, raspberries, cherries
- Orange: oranges, mandarines, peaches, mango
- Yellow: pineapple
- Green: grapes, kiwi
- Blue: Blueberries, blackberries
- Purple: grapes, blackberries
Avoid fruits that turn brown easily like bananas, apples and pears. We put a few banana halves on the platter, but I'd avoid putting sliced bananas in the rainbow if at all possible.
