Actual Disney Recipes vs. Copycat Disney Cookies

Not every recipe in this collection is a copycat.

Several of these recipes were actually shared by Disney and adapted for home kitchens, including the Grand Floridian Chocolate Chip Cookies, Riviera Resort Signature Cookies, Disneyland Shortbread Cookies, and Wilderness Lodge Molasses Crackle Cookies.

I've also included homemade versions inspired by two famous Disney destinations: Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums from Disney Parks and the giant chocolate chip-covered cookies from Gideon's Bakehouse at Disney Springs.

I've noted which is which below so you'll know exactly what you're making.

    Official Disney Cookie Recipes

    Molasses cookies on parchment paper.

Disney Wilderness Lodge Molasses Crackle Cookies

✓ Actual recipe shared by Disney

Soft, chewy, warmly spiced, and rolled in sugar, these Disney Wilderness Lodge Molasses Cookies are one of my newest Disney cookie discoveries.

Disney calls them Molasses Crackle Cookies, and the name makes perfect sense. As the cookies bake and cool, the sugary exterior develops beautiful cracks while the centers remain wonderfully soft.

They're flavored with molasses, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves, making them especially good for fall and Christmas baking.

I made Disney's 3-cup-flour version, which requires no chilling, and I actually think these cookies are even better on day two!

Disney's Grand Floridian Chocolate Chip Cookies

✓ Actual recipe shared by Disney

These are classic chocolate chip cookies with a very Disney twist: powdered sugar in the cookie dough!

Disney's Grand Floridian Chocolate Chip Cookies have lightly crisp edges, soft and chewy centers, and plenty of semisweet chocolate chips. The recipe was shared by Disney, and I've tested it in both regular and jumbo sizes.

Unlike many bakery-style chocolate chip cookies, these don't require chilling, so you can mix the dough and bake the cookies right away.

    Disney's Riviera Resort Signature Cookies

✓ Actual recipe shared by Disney

Of all the Disney cookies I've made, these might be the most unique.

Disney's Riviera Resort Signature Cookies are packed with ground oats, ground chocolate, walnuts, pistachios, dried cherries, mini chocolate chips, and molasses, then finished with flaky sea salt.

There is a lot going on in these cookies, but somehow it all works. They're thick, chewy, chocolatey, nutty, slightly tart from the cherries, and unlike an ordinary chocolate chip cookie.

mickey mouse shaped cookies on baking sheet

    Disneyland Resort Shortbread Cookies

✓ Actual recipe from Disneyland Resort

These Mickey-shaped Disney Shortbread Cookies are buttery, tender, flavored with fresh orange zest, and coated in chocolate.

The recipe comes from Disneyland Resort, and I made a half batch that yields about 18 Mickey-shaped cookies. The combination of buttery shortbread, orange zest, and chocolate makes these completely different from the other cookies in this collection.

They also hold their shape beautifully, so you can use the dough with other cookie cutters for holidays and special occasions.

Disney Parks & Disney Springs Copycat Cookies

Deep dish cookies in baking liners.

Jack-Jack Cookie Num Num (Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookies)

    ✓ Disney Parks-inspired copycat

If you've had a Jack-Jack Cookie Num Num at Disney, you know this isn't an ordinary chocolate chip cookie.

These Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookies are baked individually in paper baking cups, giving them crisp, buttery edges and an extra-thick, soft, and gooey center.

My version is an easy homemade take on the famous Disney Parks treat—no individual cast iron skillets required.

Serve them slightly warm while the chocolate is still gooey for the full experience.

    Copycat Gideon's Bakehouse Cookies

    ✓ Disney Springs copycat

Gideon's Bakehouse cookies are hard to miss. They're giant, decadent cookies absolutely covered in chocolate chips.

My Copycat Gideon's Bakehouse Cookies recreate that over-the-top look at home. The cookie dough is loaded with chocolate chips, then each ball of dough is pressed into even more chocolate chips before baking and finished with flaky sea salt.

My version isn't Gideon's actual recipe—it's my homemade interpretation of their famous chocolate chip-covered cookie.

They're gooey, ridiculously chocolatey, and definitely a cookie for serious chocolate lovers.

    Disney Cookie Recipes FAQs

    Are these actual Disney recipes?

Some are! The Wilderness Lodge Molasses Cookies, Grand Floridian Chocolate Chip Cookies, Riviera Resort Signature Cookies, and Disneyland Resort Shortbread Cookies are based on recipes shared by Disney. The Jack-Jack Cookie Num Num and Gideon's Bakehouse recipes are my homemade copycat versions.

Which Disney cookie recipe is easiest to make?

The Grand Floridian Chocolate Chip Cookies are a great place to start. They're made with familiar ingredients and don't require chilling the cookie dough.

Which Disney cookies don't require chilling?

The Grand Floridian Chocolate Chip Cookies and the 3-cup-flour version of the Wilderness Lodge Molasses Cookies can both be baked without chilling the dough. My Gideon's-inspired cookies are also a no-chill recipe.

Which Disney cookie is best for Christmas?

The Wilderness Lodge Molasses Cookies are my pick for Christmas. Molasses, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves give them all the flavors of holiday baking. The orange-zest Disneyland Shortbread Cookies are another beautiful option for Christmas cookie trays.

Are Gideon's Bakehouse cookies Disney cookies?

Gideon's Bakehouse isn't a Disney-created bakery, so I categorize my recipe as a Disney Springs copycat rather than an official Disney cookie recipe. That distinction is why I've included it separately from the recipes Disney itself has shared.

    Can I freeze these cookies?

Yes. Most of these cookies freeze beautifully. Check each individual recipe for specific freezing and storage instructions.
