This skillet cookie is what dreams are made of. Warm, gooey, and topped with creamy vanilla ice cream. This is one of my son's favorite desserts. He said the only thing that would make it better would be to have his OWN skillet and not have to share with everyone else. Lucky for him, I have small 6" skillets so maybe I'll make him his own next time.

How Big Is A Skillet Cookie?

This recipe makes enough cookie dough to fill an 8" cast iron skillet and cookie serves 4-6. Can also be made in a 10-inch skillet, adjust baking time since it will bake quicker.

Have you tried my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe? They make the best cookies to fill cookie jars with. Strong enough for stacking and stay fresh and chewy for several days. I use the same recipe for my skillet cookie.

How To Make A Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie

Making a giant skillet cookie couldn't be easier. No scooping, chilling or waiting for batch after batch to come out of the oven. I'll usually make up a batch of dough while dinner is cooking and let it bake while we are eating.

Simply pack the cookie dough into a skillet and bake for 30-35 minutes. Bake until the top is golden brown and the sides are set. The center might not seem quite set, but it will set up more as it rests in the cast iron pan.

When the cookie comes out of the oven I let it sit 10-15 minutes then add a few scoops of ice cream. It's the perfect family dessert to share after dinner! We shared one at Chili's one time and were so disappointed. The flavor was off, it was slightly burned, and we ended up not finishing it. That doesn't happen with this recipe. Promise!
