My girls enjoy making gifts to share with their friends and teachers. Darling little drawings, paper flowers, and other heartfelt treats. We had fun making these candy jars and they had even more fun sampling the candies that we chose to fill them with. These jars with printable gift tags would make great Valentine’s Day or teacher appreciation gifts! Fill with any candy you’d like!

I love finding ways to use up the craft supplies that we already have. I found a can of aqua spray paint and these tiny jars that we used for another project. We swapped the lids out with ones that were a bit more decorative and added some ribbon to attach our printable gift tags. Free!  These jars are just larger than a baby food jar and perfect for so many different projects.

How to spray paint a baby food jar to create a candy jar:

1. Apply a small piece of contact paper in the shape of your choice to the front to create a peek a boo window after the jar has been spray painted. The contact paper creates a clean line when peeled off after painted.

Note: The spray paint that I used was an indoor/outdoor fast drying paint. It is great for many surfaces and stuck right to my jar. You can also use chalk paint or acrylic paint, but spray paint is definitely the quickest option.

2. Apply two thin coats of spray paint to the OUTSIDE of each jar.

3. Let each coat dry completely.

4. Remove contact paper after the paint has dried and you will have a perfect little window opening!

Fill with candy, add a gift tag and you are done!
