These nail polish washer necklaces are such a unique craft to make! Simply paint a metal washer with nail polish and let dry. Use different colors to create patterns. A great camp project for teens! This post contains an affiliate link.

My girls and I had fun making these washer necklaces this week. They are so easy and the fact that the nail polish dries nice and shiny is pretty neat too! Just think of all the fun way to customize them. A $.12 washer from Home Depot, inexpensive nail polish, and something to string it on is all you need!

Cute necklaces! I used to use nail polish to paint all kinds of things, but I never thought about using it to paint washers for necklaces. Great idea!

What kind of cord did you use? Did it have a clip or was it just tied? Thinking of making these for our shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child.
Brandy says
Hi Shauna! That’s a GREAT idea. We went and picked up our boxes today for Operation Christmas Child so that we can get started. For the washer necklaces, I just tied a knot. I used colored hemp for the cording. Hope that helps! Here is a link to what I used, but I bought mine at Walmart. They had a variety of colors for about the same price. http://amzn.to/2ej1KFY

My ladies club, average age 70, love to do crafts, but they are not very good at it. I will have them do these and I think they will love them.
Brandy says
I love that idea. These really are easy to make. And if they don’t want to paint a washer, they can do their nails and visit with everyone! 🙂
Paula says
Great. idea! Thanks!
Kim Vance says
Do you paint both sides of the necklace or just the front with nail polish?? Thanks in Advance
Brandy says
Just the front, but I guess it’s up to you! If you painted the back you could wear it either way. 🙂

Did u use a sealer ?
Brandy says
Hi Sue! I don’t. The nail polish drys with a shine and stays on perfectly!
Judi says
What size washer do you suggest?
We’ll do these for OCC Shoeboxes
Brandy says
Hi Judi, great idea! I’d use at least 3/4″ washers.
Pam says
Can you use that finish that dries like a glass bubble over the dried polish?
Brandy says
Hi Pam! I haven’t tried using that before. The nail polish holds up really well, but it might be worth trying a few to see how they turn out with the clear coat. You’re referring to an epoxy coating right?

I’m thinking about using this idea at our upcoming ladies retreat at church. My husband is going to beat them with a ball ping hammer so I think the designs will look great painted. Possibly add a charm or even a small washer. The possibilities are endless
Brandy says
It’s true! So many different ways to make these! Have fun!

How did you brush on such perfect dots?
This sounds like a neat craft!
Thanks
Brandy says
I just let the dot drop off the end of the nail polish brush. 🙂
